If your son gets hit by a baseball line drive, you can sue the company that manufactured the bat.
Yep, that's right. In America, you can sue for just about anything.
Hillerich & Bradsby Co., the maker of the Louisville Slugger TPX Platinum bat, is being sued by a family whose son has brain damage as a result of just such a baseball injury...the boy was injured by a line drive that hit his chest just above the heart.
Also accused in the case are Little League Baseball, which allegedly endorsed the weapon...er, bat, and Sports Authority, which sold the bat.
According to the plaintiff's filing, the defendants knew, or at least should have known, that the bat they manufactured was dangerous and could cause severe injury.
The lawsuit was filed in State Superior Court in Passaic County in New Jersey.
